Are Fossil Fuels a Dead End?

“Fossil fuels are a dead end — for our planet, for humanity and for economies. A prompt, well-managed transition to renewables is the only pathway to energy security, universal access & the green jobs our world needs.”

António Guterres
Secretary-General of the United Nations

This is as irresponsible, reckless and as callous as it gets. After decades of research, promises, mandates and subsidies, the renewables (outside of hydroelectric) provide a minuscule, expensive, and unreliable source of energy. There is no way that they can supply our energy needs in the foreseeable future, let alone continue to lift the millions of people, who are currently energy-starved, out of poverty.

Since renewables cannot fulfill the energy needs of the globe at this time, a “transition” to renewables really means sentencing millions of people to perpetual poverty and misery.

The data shows that fossil fuels power the world. To pretend that we can scale renewables from their current 8.42% (2020) to replace the economic, reliable and proven portfolio of oil, coal, and gas, currently providing 87% of our needs, is irresponsible.
